Gutter-Line Permanent Lighting in Cohoes

We mount permanent lighting along the gutter line of your home exterior, fastened to solid fascia instead of the gutter itself. The track sits close and level, the wiring stays hidden, and the lights run year-round from an app on your phone.

Lights that follow the gutter without riding on it

Most homes in and around Cohoes have gutters running the full length of the eave, so that is where the roofline glow reads best from the street. The catch is that a gutter moves. It fills with meltwater, carries ice, flexes when a ladder leans on it, and gets re-pitched now and then. Lighting screwed straight into the gutter face moves with it, and the joints start to gap.

Our approach is to fasten the aluminum track to the fascia board behind or just below the gutter, using the gutter only as a visual line to follow. That one decision is the difference between a run that stays straight for years and one that sags by the second winter.

What comes with a gutter-line install

Fascia and gutter inspection

Ahead of the quote, we check the fascia, gutter hangers and drip edge on every run. A soft board or a gutter pulling loose gets photographed and shown to you, since track fastened to rotten wood won't stay.

Trim-matched aluminum channel

We match the channel to your gutter or trim color so it blends in by day. Every cut is square and every end is capped, keeping water and debris from collecting inside.

Screws in sound wood

Every fastener goes into solid fascia at even intervals, and each hole is sealed. Closer spacing at joints and corners stops the track from twisting when snow slides off.

Concealed wiring

The power cable travels through the soffit or along the trim to the controller, with a drip loop at each entry so water runs off the loop rather than into the house.

App setup and a walkthrough

We connect the controller, program your first colors and schedules, and show you how to switch to holiday patterns or keep a simple warm white each night.

When gutter-line lighting is the right call

You're done with ladder season
If hanging clip-on strands every November and pulling them down in January has gotten old, a permanent track ends that routine for good.
Old clips damaged the gutters
Plastic clips and staples bend gutter lips and leave holes. A fascia-mounted track lets the gutter go back to its only job, which is moving water.
Your eave is long and straight
Long, unbroken gutter runs on ranches, colonials and capes show off an even line of light better than almost any other part of the house.
You want light all year
The same LEDs do soft white for evenings, team colors on game day and holiday patterns in December, so the hardware earns its keep in every season.

How install day runs

  1. 1

    Measure and quote by phone

You call, we set a time to look at the house, measure each gutter run and note corners, peaks and the nearest outlet. Your free quote covers the full layout.

  2. 2

    Layout and marking

On install day we snap a reference line along the fascia so the track runs parallel to the gutter even where the gutter itself is slightly out of level.

  3. 3

    Mount, wire and seal

Track goes up in sections, joints are aligned and capped, and the wire is routed and secured. Gutters should be clear and draining before we arrive so we aren't working around standing water.

  4. 4

    Test and hand off

We run every zone through color and brightness checks, set your schedule in the app, and pick up every offcut and screw before we leave.

What sets the price of a gutter-line install

Every quote is built from your own measurements, not a flat package. The biggest drivers are how much gutter line you want lit and how hard it is to reach. We walk you through each line on the quote so nothing shows up later.

Total linear feet
Track and LEDs are priced by length, so a full wraparound costs more than the front elevation alone.
Height and roof pitch
Two-story eaves and steep pitches need more ladder setups and more time per section than a single-story ranch.
Corners and peaks
Inside corners, outside corners and gable transitions each take extra cuts, connectors and fasteners.
Power and controller location
A nearby exterior outlet keeps wiring short. Longer runs to reach power add material and routing time.

Questions about gutter-line lights

Do the lights get in the way of gutter guards?
No. The track attaches to the fascia, not the gutter lip, so your guards stay put and can be lifted or cleaned without disturbing the lights. We note the guard type at the estimate and lay out the line to suit it.
What about ice in the gutters?
Ice is heavy and can tip a gutter outward. Our track is screwed to the fascia, so the gutter can move on its own without pulling the lights along, and the track holds its line.
Who puts the system up?
We do. We are an Authorized Gemstone Lights installer, licensed and insured for the ladder and roofline work the job requires.
Is the track visible in daylight?
Barely. We color-match the channel to your gutters or trim and set it snug beneath the line, so from the street it looks like part of the trim.
What if the fascia needs fixing?
We photograph any soft spots and show you before mounting anything. Lights go up only after the wood behind them is solid.
