About Our Permanent Lighting Work in Cohoes

We are a lighting contractor focused on one job: permanent lighting along the roofline of your home. Whether that system still looks right years from now depends on small choices made during the install. That is where we spend our time.

Why we work the way we do

Permanent lighting is a simple idea. A low-profile aluminum channel runs along the fascia or just under the drip edge. LED nodes sit in that channel, and a controller lets you change colors, scenes and schedules from an app. The hard part is everything you stop seeing once the job is done.

Most failures in permanent lighting trace back to shortcuts. Channel gets screwed into shingles instead of solid fascia. Wire gets pulled tight around a corner with no slack. A power supply hangs in the open instead of near a protected outlet, and holes in the soffit are left unsealed. None of this shows on day one. It shows after a season of freeze and thaw, when a run sags, a node goes dark or water works its way into a connection.

So we built our process around those details. We plan each run before a ladder goes up. We measure corners and peaks so the nodes space evenly and the light reads as one clean line. We treat the controller location as part of the design, not an afterthought. What you get is a home exterior that lights up the same way every night, year-round, and you never have to climb anything.

The details we refuse to skip

Fastened to solid wood

We mount channel into fascia board or trim, never through roofing. A screw through a shingle is a future leak. Channel attached to flexing gutters can shift as ice and snow load up.

Color-matched channel

We match the track to your trim so it reads as part of the house in daylight. At night you see the light, not the hardware.

Slack and drip loops

Every cable run gets a little slack at the corners and a drip loop before it enters the house. Wire contracts in the cold, and water follows gravity. Both are easy to plan for and costly to ignore.

Sealed entries, tested zones

Each penetration is sealed with exterior-rated sealant. The power supply sits near a GFCI-protected outlet, up and away from standing water. Before we leave, we test every zone in the app and walk you through setting schedules.

Where we install

We install permanent lighting for homeowners in Cohoes and across the surrounding area, including Troy, Watervliet, Green Island, Menands, Latham, Loudonville, Albany, Niskayuna, Clifton Park and Halfmoon. Heavy snow and repeated freeze-thaw cycles are a normal part of winter here, which is why our mounting and sealing choices matter so much for how long your system keeps working.
